A consultation is required before any course of laser treatment. We will take a patch test of small sections of each body area that you would like treated.   We will also ask you about your medical history.

The patch test provides information to us including the optimal temperature and sensitivity level of your skin. It also highlights any adverse reactions you may have to laser treatment.

You will start to see a visible reduction in hair growth a week or two after the first session. However the area being treated, the colour of your hair and skin, any medications you may be taking, can all influence the amount of treatment required to achieve optimal results. But typically expect between 6 to 10 sessions.

We generally recommend waiting 4 to 6 weeks between treatments, again this will be determined by such factors as skin type and rate of hair growth.

Alcohol, Aspirin, Coumadin and Ibuprofen should be avoided for at least 48 hours prior to treatment, but please do not discontinue any medication before consulting with your doctor.

Avoid tanning as this risks damaging the skin,  wear sun block outside for at least a week before hand and continue to use on areas being treated between further sessions.

Avoid active skin care ingredients for at least 4 weeks prior to treatment.

Remove all hair by shaving only.

Waxing is not advised as this consists of pulling the hair from the root and the hair needs to be visibly present in the hair follicle for the laser to detect it.

Clean the skin and leave it clear of cosmetics and creams.

Yes! The following aftercare advice is essential to help reduce the risk of treatment complications, to improve your comfort/healing and to help achieve the best possible results from treatment.

The treated area of skin may feel slightly tender and appear red and swollen afterwards. You may occasionally experience skin blistering and appearances may be similar to mild sunburn. These effects will resolve naturally and should be much improved after 48 hours but may take longer to settle. You may experience some minor bruising which may take 1-2 weeks to resolve in some cases. If you are concerned at any stage about the healing process you should contact your therapist.

Keep the area clean and dry for 48 hours after treatment.

You can apply a cold pack on the treated area to reduce pain, discomfort or irritation.

Do apply aloe vera gel for 3 days after the treatment to sooth the skin.

Do wear loose clothes to avoid friction on the treated area for 48 hours

Avoid any makeup, perfumes etc for 48 hours after treatment as this can increase the risk of infection.

Avoid steam rooms, saunas and swimming for 48 hours post treatment.

Avoid any excess alcohol or caffeine for 48 hours after treatment.

Avoid rubbing, picking or scratching the treated area, especially if the area has scabbed or blistered as this may risk scarring.

Avoid shaving the treated area for 72 hours after treatment.

Avoid any skin exfoliation for 72 hours following treatment.

Avoid waxing, tweezing and threading for the complete duration of the treatment.

Avoid any products that contain alpha hydroxy acids, retinol, and glycolic acid for at least 7 days after treatment.

Wear SPF 50 or greater sunscreen for at least 2 weeks following treatment as your skin will be more sensitive to sunlight afterwards.

You must seek medical attention and contact your therapist if you experience any signs or symptoms of infection after treatment.

Your therapist will advise when further treatment appointments are required.
